Children's Home Society Toy Drive

Toy donations for the Children's Home Society Toy drive can be dropped off at the Sunshine Park Mall, unit 32 from November18th through December 9th, 2009.

This holiday toy drive serves the children in all programs and emergency shelters, from infants to children 17 years of age. To ensure that each child receives gifts of comparable value and that all gifts are safe and age appropriate, we ask that gifts be unwrapped or in gift bags! Daytona Ice Arena Grand Re-Opening 10/17/2009

The Grand Opening event will last all day, from 10am to 8pm and the first 100 people will receive free admission and skate rental. After nearly 3 months of no ice rink, South Daytona will have a newly renovated place to ice skate! The ice rink is located at the Sunshine Park Mall on US-1 (2400 S. Ridgewood Ave, South Daytona). The ice rink, formerly called Arctic Zone, is under new management and will offer skate programs, hockey, and a newly renovated game room and upstairs area. Check it out!

Andy Clark is Back in the Office!

Andy was in critical condition and suffered many different types of injuries from the accident. Clark Properties Welcomes the Daytona Ice Arena

The Ice Rink Returns to South Daytona!

Residents eagerly await the reopening of the ice rink, which housed many summer skate programs and hockey leagues. The Daytona Ice Arena will be opening at the Sunshine Park Mall, a division of Clark Properties, after nearly three months of renovations within the space, formerly occupied by Arctic Zone Ice Rink. Chris DiNardo, property manager for Clark Properties, negotiated the lease for the Daytona Ice Arena. Major repairs have been underway for the last two months which include remodeling the bar, offices, public areas, snack bar, and exterior part of the ice surface. Also, a new evaporative condenser, which is the largest part of the ice making process, has been ordered and will be delivered some time mid-August. Once the ice chiller has been installed, a professional team will be on hand to rebuild the ice surface.

The ice rink has been closed for more than two months and its re-opening under new management is highly anticipated within the community. The ice rink will host many different types of local activities, such as the Embry Riddle hockey team, a figure skating program directed by gold medalist Debbie Stephens, Tim’s Kids (a 12 week program designed to provide young kids an opportunity to try hockey with little or no cost to their families), and youth hockey programs through a partnership with USA hockey.

Renovations to the ice rink include a renovated snack bar, new carpeting and flooring, a hockey themed bar serving beer and wine, a new upstairs lounge with Playstation 3, darts, bubble hockey, and other video games, Wi-Fi Internet access, freshly painted locker rooms, new rental skates, and new area lighting. Douglas J. Clark will be one of the four people honored by the City of Port Orange’s ceremony on July 4th at 6pm. The ceremony will be Lakeside at the Port Orange City Center and will induct the new members into the Wall of Honor, used to recognize outstanding residents who have made a positive impact in our community. Inductees are selected by the Wall of Honor Committee and will have their picture placed on the Wall of Honor following the ceremony this Saturday. Doug Clark was selected for his many contributions to the City of Port Orange, primarily his mobile home and storage developments, and has been called “a silent champion of the City and business community”.

We are saddened to report the death of Douglas Clark on Monday, May 25th, 2009 in a plane crash. His son Andy was also on the plane and is currently in stable condition and is expecting a full recovery. The Clark family thanks everyone for their condolences and continued thoughts and prayers. Please see the Clark website to share your condolences with the family. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 30th, 2009 at 11:00am at Port Orange Presbyterian Church, 4662 S. Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange, FL with his son Rev. Dr. Calvin Gittner, Pastor, officiating. He will be greatly missed by his family who appreciate the outpouring of love and support they have received.
